Our scans are perfect for pre-press projects like art photography books and archival art reproductions. Our clients are artists, photographers, museums, gallery owners, graphic designers, and offset printers. We specialize in customer service, pre-press, and color accuracy in archival reproductions. ArtScan began as Digital Photo Imaging - DPI, April of 1993 in Brett Baunton's Photo Studio located in Bellingham, Washington. Brett Baunton is a local professional landscape - stock photographer and our drum scanner tech with 15 years of digital and 15 years of traditional printing experience. There was a 1x CD player for Kodak Photo CDs and the first desktop film scanners that would work on a 386 or apple computer with photoshop 2.0. In 1995, local Bellingham printer's convinced Brett to purchase a true PMT Drum Scanner to scan 35mm, 6cm, 4x5 and 8x10 films for press printing. Brett Baunton and Denise Snyder are artists and they own and operate ArtScan together. We are a small shop and we personally handle your work as if it was ours. www.BrettBaunton.com is Brett's nature photography site. The new BaytoBaker.com is Brett Baunton's Bellingham Bay to Mt Baker Project. www.artscan.com/dsnyder is the site of Denise Snyder's natural sculptural art. 2006-2007... Brett's photography and pre-press services donated to the Whatcom Land Trust help create an award winning book "Whatcom Places II" and helped raise funds and awareness for our local treasures. Brett's image of Whatcom County farm lands and Mt. Baker covered in snow grace the cover and many inside pages featuring images in and around the wild places of Bellingham and Whatcom County all the way to Mt. Baker and The North Cascades. Brett also did the pre-press work on "Whatcom Places I", "The Kingdom of Fungi" by Taylor Lockwood, and "Mary Cassatt, Impressionist Painter" by Lois Harris. 2008... We are scanning and reproducing all the originals for local watercolor artist Sibyl Sanford's upcoming book featuring her work from the archives to most recent.
